(The jobseeker registration consists of reading & following the instructions below)
ALL JOBSEEKERS must attend 1 mandatory 2-hr Pre-Career Fair Orientation adhering to the following instructions: There is no guarantee the later orientations will occur, as registration will close at 700 registrants. Therefore, you are encouraged to attend the very next Orientation, because once 700 jobseekers have been cycled through orientation, the event registration will close, and future orientations will be canceled.
YOU MUST ATTEND THE PRE-CAREER FAIR ORIENTATION IN PROFESSIONAL DRESS AND BRING ONE COPY OF YOUR 1-PAGE/TYPED RESUME which must contain a valid/workable email address for YOU; not your girlfriend, boyfriend, family member, spouse, case manager or employment specialist. It must be your email address on the resume. FYI: Only you will be emailed the location of the Aug. 24th career fair.
YOU MUST bring (past or present) proof of being “touched” by the criminal justice system to the Pre-Career Fair Orientation (Probation, Parole, or Deferred Adjudication). This will be verified at Orientation. YOU MUST be a genuine jobseeker: Case managers, employment specialists, anyone representing jobseekers, or jobseekers who did not attend the mandatory Pre-Career Fair Orientation will NOT be admitted to the Pre-Career Fair orientation or the Aug. 24th career fair.
YOU MUSTattend the 2-hour Pre-Career Fair Orientation yourself and alone (no guests), no one can attend on your behalf or on the behalf of someone who is currently incarcerated and soon to be released. Therefore, once 700 jobseekers have attended orientation, we will be unable to consider any additional attendees. This rule is in place to ensure a safe (fire code compliant) event and to maintain the most effective employer-to-jobseeker ratio.
YOU MUST read/study the FAQ page on this website AND view/study every video on the Video Gallery page on this website. A 10-question test will be administered at the Pre-Career Fair Orientation. The TEST QUESTIONS will come from both the FAQ page and the Videos. It is the jobseeker’s responsibility to locate a computer where they are able to view all of the videos. (Public library, workforce center, etc…) Everyone must correctly answer, at least, 8 out of 10 in order to receive an invitation to the career fair. If you fail the test, you may keep returning to orientations until you pass, provided that the 700 attendee limit hasn’t been met. Study hard and come prepared! Which means bring a pen.
YOU MUST BE ON TIME TO THE PRE-CAREER FAIR ORIENTATION AND STAY FOR THE ENTIRE 2-HOUR ORIENTATION, NO EARLY DISMISSALS WILL BE ALLOWED & NO EXCUSES FOR BEING LATE WILL BE ENTERTAINED & NO LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE ADMITTED INTO THE ORIENTATION. PLEASE GO EARLY OR MAKE A PRACTICE RUN 1 OR 2 DAYS BEFORE THE ORIENTATION, TO ENSURE THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO BE AT THE START TIME OF ORIENTATION. WE WILL TURN YOU AWAY IF YOU ARE LATE.
THIS IS JOB-READINESS RULE #1: BE ON TIME! NO EXCUSES, NO EXCEPTIONS.
